I was raised in the Green Mountains of Vermont, surrounded by diverse hardwoods and softwood timber stands. As a young man, I loved to explore the many barns that dot this pastoral landscape, admiring the hand-hewed beans that supported not only the structure itself, but also the hard working life of my fellow Vermonters.
I came about my passion for building through timber first, working in the dense Vermont forests harvesting trees for saw logs, pulp, and firewood. It was here that I learned about the varied species, along with their specific qualities and respective uses, and my early formative building experiences came working alongside experienced craftsmen, sorting through rough sawn native lumber piles at local sawmills.
Over the decades as my skills refined, my taste has simplified to the clean and sleek lines of modern design, though my deep reverence for the working relationship between the living forest and the shelters it gives life to remains unchanged.
